In Jewish tradition, a chuppah (translated from Hebrew "canopy" or "covering"), is a canopy that a couple stands underneath during their wedding ceremony.
It can be covered over the top with a cloth or sheet, or sometimes a tallit (which is a fringed cloth sometimes worn as a prayer shawl).
The fabric can be stretched or supported over four poles.
A chuppah symbolizes the home that the couple will build together.
